Steelers star Steelers safety James Harrison (ankle) is expected “to be out at least six to eight weeks” after injuring his ankle while playing in the preseason, according to team sources.
The team did not confirm Harrison’s injury, but his ankle was broken in the second quarter of Sunday’s 27-10 loss to the 49ers.
Harrison sustained the injury when he was hit in the face by 49ers quarterback Alex Smith.
Harrison played the entire first half, and the Steelers then went on to lose to the Vikings.
Harrison said he has not yet been told what the timetable is for his return.
Harrison’s teammates and coaches, meanwhile, were left scrambling for answers.
“I was on the field for most of the second half and was not able to make the play,” Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier said.
“But we’ve been through it.
We’re trying to get our players to focus on their job. “
That’s the biggest thing.
But I think our guys are going to have to focus and focus and move forward.” “
If there’s any mistakes that we can make, that’s not a good thing.
But I think our guys are going to have to focus and focus and move forward.”
Shaziers’ teammates, coaches and teammates also took to social media to express their disappointment.
“What’s up with the Steelers getting injured and Harrison not being able to play?,” Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs wrote on Twitter.
“They arent playing the game.
We can’t afford that.”
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport said he believes Harrison will miss six to 8 weeks after suffering the injury.
“The first thing I thought of was, ‘Is this the same injury?'”
The Steelers were 0-4 when Harrison was injured.
Harrison suffered the injury while tackling the Vikings’ Adrian Peterson in the third quarter.
“He’s a good tackler, but I think his leg is probably in better shape right now than the rest of his body,” Rapoporter said.
Harrison has had his share of injuries in his career, but he has only missed one game in the last two seasons.
He has played in all four regular-season games this season and has two interceptions.
Harrison was a Pro Bowler with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2012.
He played for the New England Patriots from 2009 to 2011 and the San Francisco 49ers from 2011 to 2014.
Harrison is a second-round draft pick by the Steelers in 2010 and the 11th overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft.
The 49ers drafted Harrison in the first round (No. 7) of the 2013 draft and he played his first game for them against the Washington Redskins in 2013.
Harrison signed a three-year, $21.9 million deal with the team before the season.
